There are only two fundamental things we need to stay alive, air and water. However, for long term survival we also need food. Most cultures have had unique relationships with their traditional foods and those foods usually related to the conditions under which they lived.
Hippocrates discovered that “one person’s food is another person’s poison.”
Relationship with food has all but vanished, since the introduction of processed foods, fast foods and mass marketing.
It is not a coincidence that the #1 killer in America is heart disease, followed by cancer and diabetes.
This trend could be reversed if we recapture the relationship we once had with food. It is time to begin living in harmony with the environment again. Doing this requires a clear vision of what you would like to accomplish, the determination to get there and a little direction.
SOME TIPS
MAKE WISE FOOD CHOICES WHEN AWAY FROM HOME
When eating in a restaurant ask questions about what you are being served. What is in the sauces, etc. Usually eating simpler prepared foods without sauces is safe, especially if you have food allergies or sensitivities.
When eating with friends…sometimes they are the ones we love dearly, but can’t relate to their eating habits. If this is the case, protect yourself by bringing something you know you can eat and like, as a friendly gesture when visiting.
Be committed to breaking old habits. To do this you first must get in touch with what those are?
Know How and When to eat.
Eat only portions which are comfortable, DO NOT OVEREAT!
Eat raw food often, if your digestion permits.
Eat foods in their whole, natural form.
Eat fruits, nuts and seeds by themselves, and between meals.
Try to eat a green leafy salad with assorted vegetables with every cooked meal.
Don’t wash away all your natural enzymes with lots of liquids during the meal. A little water or wine is sufficient.
Don’t drink alcohol with meals, except wine, in moderation.
Prepare TASTY meals. You have a better chance of being satisfied and getting your family to eat heathy foods if they are prepared well.
PREPARING TASTY FOOD
Do not overcook foods. You loose most of the nutrients, along with the flavor.
There is a difference between overcooked and fully cooked. Poultry, for example, needs to be fully cooked (no pink meat), but not overcooked to the point of being tough or dry.
METHODS OF COOKING
Grilling, broiling, steaming, poaching, baking and stir frying. (never deep fry)
USE QUALITY INGREDIENTS
(including filtered water)
Use only cold pressed vegetable oils, Including Coconut oil
MANAGE CRAVINGS OR BINGES
Food cravings can be emotionally driven or have a connection to physical cycles. This can be hormonal, etc. Be aware, make a chart and seek help with balancing the body, mentally, emotionally or physically.
If you are the only one in the family wanting to make dietary changes, ask others for support. You will see in time that they will join you on this journey to good health!
Don’t feel you need to make explanations to others about your dietary choices. Be comfortable in your choices.
HOMEOPATHY AND DIGESTION
If you found you have had too much to eat or drink, use the homeopathic remedy NUX VOMICA. Relief comes pretty quickly.
If you suffer from bloating and poor digestion take LYCOPODIUM 200c + ARSENICUM ALBUM 6c twice daily for a minimum of 2-3 months.
If you have liver or gall-bladder symptoms, along with digestive, choose CHELIDONIUM + NUX VOMICA twice daily for 2-3 months.
